SAINT AUGUSTINE PARISH
JOSE DALMAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE
REV. FR. MAMERTO A. DOLERA, JR.
Change happens, for the better or for worse. This has characterized the Parish of St. Augustine in Jose Dalman. For one, the previous name of the municipality was Ponot. Moreover, the church building has been relocated prompting its reconstruction and that of the rectory. This is one of the present concerns of the parish.
The parishioners do not fear change, or any challenge for that matter, due partly to the leadership of their pastors. Made a parish in 1980, Jose Dalman has been under many shepherds, namely: Fr. Gonzalo Ta. Villamil, Jr., Fr. Yolando Gamallo, Fr. Genaro Daguplo and Fr. Edwin Ticon, Fr. Edmund Layan, Fr. Apolinario Bejer, Fr. Artemio Deo and the present pastor, Rev. Fr. Nemie Sayon. They have steered the parish courageously through difficult moments. At the present, implementation of the parochial program intended to enhance spiritual life and the formation of the basic ecclesial communities take the lion’s share of the time of Fr. Nemie Sayon and his flocks. They are also establishing a parish cooperative. In these endeavors, the role of the youth is properly given emphasis.
Certainly the people of St. Augustine Parish are using change as a means for growth.
