SAINT VICENT FERRER PARISH
LEON B. POSTIGO, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE
REV. FR. LAWRENCE CHRISTOPHER B. VARQUEZ
Leon Postigo is the new name of Bacungan. It was established as a parish in 1980. From humble beginnings, it is now showing richness in life lived in faith. Through the leadership of Rev. Fr. Felomino Cuaton, continues to sail on with pride through the enrichment of Basic Ecclesial Communities. St. Vincent Ferrer Parish has been fortunate to be spared from the constant change of parish priest. It can be paralyzing. Only six preceded Fr. Lumen. They were Fr. Levi Gacrcia and Fr. Bonifacio Alcantara, Fr. Octavio Bartiana, Fr. Edwin Saldon, Fr. Tortillano Doller and Fr. Esquirion A. Santisas
The church being constructed is not only the building. The formation of the people into communities is also taking place. They are organized both into the traditional mandated organizations and basic ecclesial communities. In-service and seminars are held to develop the laity, to inculcate prayer values to families and the youth, and to make the sacraments and Bible meaningful to the people. As a service to the Subanens, the Tribal Filipino. Apostolate is given emphasis. These are pursued in order to realize the parochial thrust. “Ang pagpadayon sa pagmugna ug pagpalig-on sa BEC-GKS sulod sa parokya aron motunhay ang diwa sa pagkinabuhi sa kinatibuk-an diha ni Hesukristo”.
